Schedule Views
The view-related dropdown menus at the top of signup pages have been replaced with
the notion of schedule views.
A schedule views enables you to control the presentation
style of the underlying schedule and/or to display just the
schedule items you are interested in.
Your event staff can create views that are available to everyone.
You can also come up with your own views.
This can save you time when dealing with a large schedule,
particularly if you are using a mobile device.
- To display an ad hoc temporary view of a schedule, click on a magnifying glass
icon and fill out the form.
These icons are in Self-Signup Home's Schedules column (previously the
Signup Here column). They are also on the title line of all signup pages.
- To make a temporary view permanent (so you can use it again later),
click on the Save link on the title line of a signup page.
- To review your permanent schedule views, click on the Your Schedule Views
link (next to the Your Registration Info link).
- Users can now layout signup pages and match schedule items based on activity project (if an
event staff chooses to organize the event's activities into projects).
UI of Signup Pages
- The signup pages now do a better job of showing you new signups that others have
done since you first displayed the signup page.
- Clicking on Cancel Signup now displays a regular PRESTO form (rather than
a modal browser form). This has 2 benefits. First, the form has Yes/No buttons to be
clearer to new users. Second, if you attempt to Cancel a signup past the deadline,
you get the feedback immediately (rather than after clicking OK).
- The Show One Person's Signups feature (on the View Signups page and Admin Signup page)
now allows you to show another person's signups without having to click on the Close button 1st.
- The Help links on self-signup pages are now at the top of the page. The help
for admin signup pages has been split into 3 links.
From-address Domain Issue
When PRESTO sends an announcement on behalf of an administrator, some mail agents
consider it a security/spam issue that the domain of
the From address (ie. the administrator)
is not @prestogem.com. In particular, Gmail displays a "May not be from you" comment
at the top of the message when the administrator's domain
is @gmail.com. To get around this, PRESTO now sets the From address to
Administrator's Name <via@prestogem.com> — but only
when the administrator's domain is @gmail.com.
If you run into a problem of this sort while using a non-Gmail From address,
please report it.
Miscellaneous Changes
- The UI feedback for registration-related errors has been improved.
The improvements come into play when a person enters the wrong email address when
trying to re-establish a password and when
someone already registered attempts to register again.
- Added a new on-site activity type: Reserved Time. This type creates a
main on-site activity whose signup button says "Reserve" instead of "Signup".
It also causes the admin signup page to enforce the #-wanted setting. (All the other
activity types allow the administrator to signup excess people if desired).
- The administrator can now control the time of day that a rolling event (like
Tennis Court Reservations) rolls its dates forward a day.
- Replaced the term "schedule line" with "schedule item" because
the former did not fit with grid views and the latter is slightly more common in usage.
